Given different events or individual actions, could Linux and open source more broadly have failed to become the engine for collaboration and innovation that it is today?
Perhaps you believe that great economic and technological forces make it difficult for individuals or chance events to radically alter how events play out. The integrated circuit, Moore’s Law, the internet, the sharing of software especially in academic settings, and other broad trends trump any single action in this view.
